Doctor Oberlin grew up in Columbus, Ohio and went on to Dartmouth College to study biological sciences. After graduating, he was awarded the Richard D. Lombard Public Service Fellowship to pursue a year of medical outreach in a small rural clinic in Danli, Honduras. Dr. Oberlin went on to complete his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of medicine. While in medical school, he completed research studies at the Cleveland Clinic awarded the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research NIH training grant to study immunosuppression in kidney transplantation patients.
Dr. Oberlin moved to Chicago to complete his urology residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, ranked 11th nationally for urology care. While at Northwestern, Dr. Oberlin achieve many honors including top manuscripts and presentations at national meetings as well as first place awards in research competitions in Chicago. His research has attracted national attention in prostate cancer care, kidney stone treatment, and gender disparities.
Dr. Oberlin went on to pursue a fellowship in oncology and robotic at the University of Southern California. Training at the highest volume robotics program on the west coast, Dr. Oberlin performed hundreds of robotic surgeries with internationally recognized leader in the field of robotic and laparoscopic surgery for urologic cancers. Dr. Oberlin continues to contribute to academic urology publishing in major urologic journals such as European Urology and currently serves as reviewer for several leading urologic journals.
Dr. Oberlin is the proud father of a beautiful two year-old daughter and lives with his wife Pisey in the East Bay. In their free time they love to enjoy the outdoors spending time fly fishing, hiking, skiing, and traveling. He and Pisey are active members of the Berkeley and Oakland communities.
